Amazon deducts their production cost, fulfillment cost, and referral fee from the list price — and pays you what remains. You don't see this breakdown; you only see the royalty amount per tier. The royalty tables in this calculator show verified 2025 amounts for the US marketplace.
Amazon's production and fulfillment costs are roughly fixed. As you raise the list price, the additional revenue goes mostly to your royalty — which is why the margin percentage increases at higher price points. At $15.99 you earn 13.8% margin; at $29.99 you earn 42.7% on a Standard T-Shirt.
The tool includes US marketplace royalties, which are the most commonly referenced. International MBA royalties (Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, etc.) differ and are not currently included. Amazon publishes royalty tables for each marketplace in your MBA dashboard — always verify your specific market.
