Understanding why your net profit varies so widely starts with knowing exactly what each platform charges — and what it doesn't.
Vinted's protection fee is paid by the buyer, not you. You list at £20 — you receive £20. The only deduction is the shipping label cost (from £3.55 for up to 1kg via Evri). This is Vinted's core proposition and its biggest advantage.
In 2023, Depop removed the 10% seller commission for US sellers. UK and EU sellers still pay 10% on the FULL transaction — meaning listing price plus whatever shipping you charge the buyer. A £20 item with £4 shipping = £24 transaction = £2.40 Depop fee.
Poshmark's fee is NOT always 20%. Below $15, it's a flat $2.95 regardless of price. On a $10 item that's 29.5%. On a $5 item it's 59%. The fee cliff at exactly $15.00 is the single most important number for any Poshmark seller to know.
